About Kevin Hosseini
(The Art of Autism): Kevin Hosseini began painting in 2003 when he was nine years old when introduced to art by a clinician, Colin, through the UCSB Koegel Autism Center. He quickly advanced from watercolors to acrylic, to oil painting. Acrylic and oil are his preferred medium and he has a talent for mixing colors and adding elements such as liquen impasto and liquen original to give depth and texture to his paintings. He also likes to use natural elements, such as sticks and dirt in his paintings. Kevin is a prolific artist and his art is on display in governmental and nonprofit offices in Santa Barbara and Sacramento, California. Currently, 55 of his paintings are on display at the Koegel UCSB Autism Clinic. Kevin has been featured in newspaper articles across the United States and his art is featured on the cover of the Normal Films documentary ARTS (2009) and is on the cover of the book Raising Brendan – Creating Independence for Adult Kids with Autism & Special Needs. His artwork has been featured in Jill Mullin’s book Drawing Autism (Mark Batty Publisher, 2009) and Debra Hosseini’s books Artism: The Art of Autism (Autism Today, 2011) and The Art of Autism: Shifting Perceptions (2012).
